A “decisive” presence through his knowledge of the first boat, but also for the follow-up work carried out on the Imoca in recent years. “And two of the five people in the TR Racing design office are also dedicated to designing the boat,” adds Thomas Gévériaux.

Advens 2 will be slower than LinkedOut in sheer speed. But the improvement has been made for a high average speed over long distances “being careful not to compromise its performance even when the sea is flat”, explains Thomas Gavériaux. For those who don’t understand much about sailing and who have come to this line: Advens 2 will not be a sprinter, but an 800 or 1,500 m runner. The new Imoca will be “easier to handle” and “a bit sturdier, by reinforcing the most exposed areas” of the foiler, according to Thomas Ruyant. Its launch is scheduled for early 2023.

Advens 2 will be part of the new generation of Imoca aiming for victory in the Vendée Globe 2024. Boris Herrmann and Jérémie Beyou have already launched their new boats. “The boats have a lifespan of 2, 3, 4 Vendée Globes. There are significant leaps from one generation to another,” notes Thomas Gavériaux. Today, TR Racing continues to optimize LinkedOutin particular to aim for victory on the next Route du Rhum, after the success on the Transat Jacques-Vabre 2021. Then, in 2023, all the attention will be focused on Advens 2. “But LinkedOut will be present in the Vendée Globe 2024 with TR Racing, and will remain very competitive and will be able to win,” announces Thomas Gavériaux.
