It was only in August that there was a devastating fire on the A40 in Bochum. The fire in a tire store damaged an eleven-meter-long concrete retaining wall, and the motorway then had to be closed for two months. The police found evidence of arson. The perpetrator could not be identified.

Regarding the current situation, the police reported at around 10:50 p.m. that the blockade on the motorway could be lifted again. But: “On the A40 there may be slight obstructions to the view due to the smoke.”
