How Veitshöchheim benefits from the carnival in Franconia – Bavaria

Veitshöchheim used to be a tranquil wine town on the Main – then the TV people and politicians came. Since the BR program with the highest ratings was recorded there, this one day in February has been the most important of the year.

Such a move needs to be celebrated. Of course, Norbert Neugirg and the other musicians of the Altneihauser Feierwehrkapell’n could simply get the keys and move into their rooms. For the 16th time, the Upper Palatinate are staying for a few days and nights in Inga and Bernd Wiek’s holiday home in Veitshöchheim because of the “Carnival in Franconia”. They stayed away for two years due to the pandemic; now they are back. And the welcoming committee came when the temperature was below zero: the mayor and the man from the local radio, a video journalist from Bayerischer Rundfunk, all sorts of onlookers and of course the Wieks. There are meat loaf rolls, mulled wine and sparkling wine; the Altneihauser return the favor with a serenade.
