The mere question of how the Incas managed to hold together their 950,000 square kilometer empire raises a mystery. The researchers cannot hope to discover an Inca text, such as digging up something like a “Codex Hammurabi” between Ecuador, Chile and Argentina, or a dusty “Athenaion Politeia” off the shelf in the library of an abandoned mountain monastery to pull.
