A little less than a year ago, the remains of the Cachou bear were found on the Spanish side of the Pyrenees, in the Val d’Aran. After several weeks of investigation, the Lérida prosecutor confirmed that the 5-year-old plantigrade had been stocked with “ethylene glycol”, a toxic antifreeze used in car coolants.
And the main suspect in this case is none other than a Spanish ranger, alongside five other suspects. An investigation which was based in particular on the telephone tapping, which rebounded on another case, of drugs this time reveals the Barcelona newspaper La Vanguardia.
Over the course of the conversations, the Mossos, the Catalan police officers, heard references to indirect references to deliveries of cocaine. This new judicial information led to twelve arrests on Friday, in particular in Villarreal Castellón, as well as in Vielha and Lleida. In the latter city, a laboratory for processing cocaine imported from Colombia, the country of origin of several suspects, has been found.
