How the 1973 film “Soylent Green” anticipated our present – culture

Washing hands, with soap for at least 20 seconds, lathering and scrubbing, is clear in these times. It is surely just a coincidence that this act was a defining concept of our today as early as the 1970s. In any case, one of the central scenes in the science fiction film “Soylent Green” (German title: “… year 2022 … who want to survive”), which was shown publicly for the first time in 1973, is exactly about it: like the police officer Robert Thorn, played by Charlton Heston. Turn the Jahn on, marvel at the water as he looks at a bar of soap and then washes his hands. 20 seconds at least.
