Housing should be affordable for everyone, that is the promise of the traffic light government. But what about rent control, new construction and tenancy law reform? About power games and a big feud.

For tenants, it sounded like a promise. The federal government, led by the Social Democrat Olaf Scholz, wanted to make housing affordable for everyone. Especially for people with little money should be built to the best of their ability and the tenancy law should be improved. Families, older people, students should no longer be driven out of inner cities. It was said that housing is the most important social issue of our time. Only – nothing is progressing on this topic. Also because parts of the federal government are now giving the impression that they need relationship therapy.
