The second season of House of the Dragon will introduce viewers to even more dragons. Series creator Ryan Condal has now revealed this.

Already in the premiere season of the fantasy series “House of the Dragon” it was teeming with dragons. A total of nine of the fire-breathing beasts populated the Westeros of the first “Game of Thrones” offshoot. However, season two will top this, as showrunner Ryan Condal (43) has now promised at a screening event in Los Angeles. “You will meet five new dragons”, said Condal verbatim according to “The Hollywood Reporter”.

George RR Martin didn’t like the “Game of Thrones” dragons

At the screening of the eighth episode from the first “House of the Dragon” season, many of the actors of the series were present, as well as template author George RR Martin (74), on whose book “Feuer und Blut – Band 1” the HBO series that started in 2022 series based. Martin, who is known to have penned the literary template for “Game of Thrones”, explained on the occasion that the dragons in the latter series had not particularly impressed him. “They all looked the same”, said the 74-year-old according to “Deadline”.

Of the nine dragons seen in “House of the Dragon” so far, Martin was much more taken with it. “They had a personality. They came alive,” he revealed, adding, “That was very satisfying for me.”

Filming for Season 2 of House of the Dragon will begin ‘very soon’

Showrunner Condal also had an update on the eagerly awaited second season of “House of the Dragon” for fans of the series. According to those responsible for the series, filming on the new episodes will begin “very soon”. HBO boss Casey Bloys had already prepared fans a few weeks ago that the continuation of the epic fantasy series could not be expected before the summer of next year.
