Filmmaker Felix Adlon, 54, is the great-great-grandson of Lorenz Adlon, who opened the Berlin hotel named after him in 1907 right next to the Brandenburg Gate. The family lost the legendary house in 1945 through fire and expropriation. However, it is connected to the new Adlon, which opened in 1997, in a variety of ways – not just as a namesake. In his book “Adlon” (Heyne Verlag, Munich 2021. 288 pages, 22 euros) Felix Adlon describes the history of his family and the hotel.
