The legendary vampire silent film from 1922 serves as a template for the new film by US director Robert Eggers. Two of the actors are now said to be known.

US author and director Robert Eggers (“The Northman”, “The Witch”) has been planning a remake of the vampire horror film “Nosferatu” for some time – now he has apparently found actors for the new edition of the silent film classic.

The Swede Bill Skarsgård (32, “Es”, “Eternals”) is on board for the main role, as the US film portal “Deadline.com” reported. Lily-Rose Depp, daughter of actor Johnny Depp and singer Vanessa Paradis, is said to be negotiating for a role. Lily-Rose Depp (23, “The Dancer”, “Voyagers”) linked the article in an Instagram story.

The template for the remake is the legendary silent film version “Nosferatu, Eine Symphonie des Grauens” (1922) by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau (1888-1931), who tells the story of the vampire Count Orlok. Werner Herzog filmed “Nosferatu: Phantom of the Night” in 1979 with Klaus Kinski in the role of the bloodsucker.

In the remake, the vampire from Transylvania is supposed to terrorize a young woman in Germany in the 19th century. A few years ago, Harry Styles and Anya Taylor-Joy were in talks for the roles, but the project never materialized at the time.

Eggers (39) recently brought Alexander Skarsgård, Bill Skarsgård’s older brother, together with Nicole Kidman, Ethan Hawke and Claes Bang in front of the camera for the Viking epic “The Northman” (2022).
