The vacation rental agent FeWo-direkt has again chosen the “Vacation Homes of the Year”.
Spending your vacation in a holiday home instead of a hotel offers many advantages. Especially in regions that are heavily frequented by tourists, holiday homes are often much cheaper in comparison. Holidaymakers also expect more space, independence and comfort. “Holiday homes offer unbeatable value for money, which is particularly popular with Germans at this time of rising prices,” explains Wolfgang Pagl, Director Vacation Rentals at FeWo-direkt.
In 2023, the portal once again chose the holiday homes of the year. Only those addresses that received an average overall rating of at least 4.8 out of a possible 5 stars from guests made it onto the top list. In addition to the overall presentation, the criterion of suitability for families and groups also had to be met.
Holiday homes in Germany awarded
Accommodations in Germany can also be titled “Holiday home of the year 2023” decorate. Especially in times of rising prices, they offer a good alternative to expensive trips abroad.
In the romantic river villa “Bleibe” in the half-timbered town of Monschau, guests can not only look forward to 200 square meters of living space, but also their own park-like garden with a large pond, baroque pavilion and direct access to the river.
Another German highlight is a mansion in Freudenstadt in the Black Forest. The building from the 17th century, known as the “Bärenschlössle”, offers space for 18 people and impresses with its tasteful furnishings, which are carefully integrated into the well-preserved historical ambience. With an average price of 281 euros per night, you can spend a relatively cheap holiday here.
If you prefer something modern and stylish, you should be happy in the “Ferienhaus Sunshine” in Löbnitz, Saxony, whose property borders directly on the shore of Mühlfeldsee in the northern Leipzig Neuseenland. The building features large panoramic windows, a sun terrace, and a spa area with a sauna and jacuzzi.
Great ambience in the English county of Cumbria
The luxurious stone house “High View Barn” on the outskirts of Middleton in the English county of Cumbria awaits Anglophile vacationers. The property offers a beautiful view of the green hills of the surrounding countryside and, in addition to six huge bedrooms, has a total of seven bathrooms.
For a luxury holiday in warmer climes, a villa near Lagos in the Portuguese Algarve is suitable. In addition to a large infinity pool with a sea horizon and a park-like garden, the 600 square meter building has several bathrooms with their own whirlpools.
Another interesting property on the shortlist is a lovingly renovated historic villa in French Provence that boasts a 240-degree view of the port city of Cannes. The property combines traditional style with modern comfort, has four large terraces and is surrounded by a large olive grove.
Luxury in the alpine chalet
Those who are more drawn to the mountains should take a look at the “Chalet La Colombine” in the alpine French Savoy. The 5-star accommodation extends over 400 square meters on four levels and offers its guests a panoramic outdoor sauna, two pools and a cinema room, among other things. Even if the property costs an average of 2,037 euros per night, the per capita costs are reasonable. Because with a full occupancy of 15 guests, the luxury holiday home costs an average of just 136 euros per person and night.
The “Villa Corallo” on the Costa Paradiso on the north coast of Sardinia also made it onto the list. The villa boasts a rocky hilltop location from which guests can enjoy panoramic views across the entire coast – from any of the seven rooms.
Another excellent vacation home is on the Greek island of Corfu. The “House on the Rocks” impresses with its location on a rock above the picturesque Kaminaki Beach. The panoramic views can be enjoyed from a large, semi-circular infinity pool.
