Höhenkirchen – new place for the weekly market – district of Munich

The weekly market in Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn has a new home: the stall operators have moved just a stone’s throw from the car park opposite the district savings bank to the currently undeveloped area at Bahnhofsstraße 22. They now offer their products from the region for sale there on Tuesdays from 3 to 6 p.m. The tenant of the municipal property is the Volks- und Raiffeisenbank, which set up a self-service terminal there as an interim solution during the renovation of its Siegertsbrunn branch. For this purpose, several car and bicycle parking spaces were created on the site, which can now also be used by market visitors.

The municipality hopes that the move will make the weekly market, which it organizes together with the Bund Naturschutz, more attractive. Unlike in many neighboring towns, the crowds at the stands in Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn are often manageable. Mayor Mindy Konwitschny (SPD) has repeatedly emphasized that the weekly market belongs in the town center in the long term. It will probably be several years before the planned community center around the train station, including a new town hall and a market square, becomes a reality.
