At a christening ceremony in Upper Franconia, a man attacked two guests with a knife and seriously injured them. This was preceded by a dispute at the family celebration in a restaurant in Hof, the police and the public prosecutor announced on Monday.

During the argument on Saturday, a 46-year-old from Plauen pulled out a knife and seriously injured two 17- and 21-year-old opponents from the Hof district. The two injured were taken to the hospital. Police arrested the suspect at the scene of the crime. The man has been in custody since Sunday on suspicion of attempted homicide.
