A serious fight broke out among young people in a cemetery in Herne. A 15-year-old was nearly killed. The perpetrators are twelve and 13 years old.

A 15-year-old boy from Herne barely survived an assault by other children. As the police and the public prosecutor reported in a joint press release, the incident happened on Saturday in the area of a cemetery in Herne, North Rhine-Westphalia.

According to initial investigations, the teenager got into an argument with three younger children from Herne between the ages of twelve and 13 early on Saturday morning. The trio then brought the teenager down and kicked and punched him. Then they fled.

Later, a passer-by found the badly injured boy and called the emergency services. The 15-year-old was taken to a hospital for treatment. His condition is now stable.

However, because a mortal danger could not be ruled out at first, the Bochum police set up a murder commission. In the course of the police measures that were initiated immediately, the officers investigated three children from Herne who were known to the police and who were not responsible for criminal prosecution.

The investigations by the public prosecutor’s office and homicide commission are ongoing.

14-year-old attacked in Gummersbach

Just two weeks earlier, there was a similar incident in the Oberberg district. In Gummersbach, a group of about five young people between the ages of 13 and 16 attacked a 14-year-old and two relatives at the bus station. Brass knuckles were apparently also used. First, the perpetrators attacked the 14-year-old and slightly injured. When her stepfather and her 12-year-old brother tried to come to the rescue, the two were also slightly injured, the police said.

Two 13-year-old girls were able to catch up with the officers during the subsequent pursuit. According to the information, they gave false personal details and loudly insulted the police officers. In order to free themselves, they are said to have kicked and hit themselves. As more and more friends of the suspects gathered and they in turn interfered with the arrest, the officers finally had to request assistance and also use a service dog.

Once the identity was verified, the parents were informed. While a 13-year-old was being escorted from the station to her mother, the other kicked again, hitting a policeman’s thigh. She also continued to riot in front of the police station in the presence of her mother. A policewoman was slightly injured; she was no longer able to work. A police officer also suffered minor injuries.
