Renault has just made the Legend, the French manufacturer’s future electric car, official. We don’t yet know much about it, except that it will be marketed at an entry price of less than 20,000 euros.
The battle over the electric car rages on. For the moment, most electric cars are expensive, with an average price of around 40,000 euros in France at the start of 2023, compared to around 28,000 euros for gasoline cars according to the data. A range of 7 electric cars
In addition to its future electric Renault 5 and Renault 4 which should aim for a starting price of between 25,000 and 30,000 euros, the French group is coming to announce the name of its future electric car. Renault Legend. It will support the Renault Mégane E-Tech and the Scenic E-Tech, in addition to its two other little sisters.
By 2031, Renault announces that it will be able to market 7 different electric cars. There are therefore still two models missing before knowing the future range. But we already know that the brand is preparing a large SUV for 2027 with ultra-fast charging and immense autonomy. It could be based on the Morphoz concept illustrated in this article.
Renault Legend: less than 20,000 euros
Let’s come back to our Renault Legend (not to be confused with the Peugeot e-Legend Concept). The press release specifies that ” Legend will be offered to our customers for less than 100 euros per month with an entry price of less than 20,000 euros (before subsidy)“.

Electric ones cheaper than thermal ones
Reuters — who reportedly attended a press conference call with Renault — adds that “ to face competition from Tesla and the Chinese, Renault intends to achieve price parity between electric and thermal vehicles before the competition, within the next two years for small cars and within four years for larger vehicles.“.
In other words, thanks to the cost of energy, maintenance and repairs, it will clearly become cheaper to drive 100% electric than in a thermal car. This is already the case on certain models, notably thanks to the various bonuses.
