See my news

This Pentecost Monday, the weather will still be very troubled. A large part of France will be crossed showers and of Thunder. But there is better. Orange vigilance for the risk of flooding has finally been lifted in the Moselle department.

Almost all of France nevertheless remains vigilant. This Monday morning, some 90 departments were in yellow for risk of floods, storms or rain-flooding.

Then, Météo France raised its level of vigilance a notch by placing, in his 4 p.m. bulletin, two departments on orange alert. These are Gironde and Charente-Maritime, for risks of rain-flooding. 92 departments are on yellow alert.

Several points of vigilance

In detail, these are storms which most worry Météo France meteorologists. This Monday, May 20, 2024 at 6 a.m., the weather organization placed 87 departments in yellow for this risk. There are five more at 4 p.m.

Four departments on the Atlantic coast were affected early this morning by a second alert in progress: that for rain and flood. “The accumulations of rain will be particularly worth monitoring,” notes Météo France.

There are 10 at 4 p.m.: Ille-et-Vilaine, Landes, Maine-et-Loire, Mayenne, Orne, Sarthe, Vendée as well as the two Corsican departments.

Finally, yellow vigilance for raw concerned three eastern departments (Moselle, Meurthe-et-Moselle and Bas-Rhin) at the start of the day. At 4 p.m., there are now eight: Calvados, Charente, Charente-Maritime, Eure, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Orne and Bas-Rhin.

Grayness in the morning

In the afternoon, Météo France chose to reinforce its vigilance due to an “episode of heavy rain tonight and tomorrow morning in northern Gironde and southern Charente-Maritime.”

We can expect 50 to 80 mm. This risk of high accumulations mainly concerns the north of Gironde and the south of Charente-Maritime.

In addition, “very locally” in Ile-de-France, Normandy and Center Val-de-Loire, “strong thunderstorms erupt in the late afternoon and evening.

Unstable weather in the afternoon

The weather remains disturbed in the afternoon by frequent downpours over a large part of the country.

Thunderstorms break out from the Vendée and Charentais coast towards the Centre-Val de Loire, the west of the Île de France and the Ardennes, on the Alps.

They also break out in Corsica, potentially causing significant amounts of rain locally, adds the weather organization. Hail could fall on Burgundy and Auvergne.

The Manche, the Grand-Est and the Mediterranean regions are, however, luckier: the weather will be much calmer.

Up to 20 degrees

He is between 9 and 13 degrees for minimum temperatures. It takes up to 15 degrees near the Mediterranean.

The maximums, for their part, must be understood between 16 and 20 degrees. “Up to 22 to 24 degrees on the eastern facade,” concludes Météo France.
