The Russian army has continued the massive air raids on Ukraine – more than 40 missiles were shot down in Kiev alone during the night. In the morning there was another air alert and heavy detonations.
After two nights of massive Russian airstrikes, the Ukrainian capital Kiev was again shaken by explosions in the morning – and that in broad daylight. So far, most air raids have mostly happened at night or in the early hours of the morning.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote about explosions in central parts of the city in the Telegram online service. According to the military administration, the air defense was active. Reporters from the dpa and AFP news agencies also reported loud detonation noises and siren alarms. In the sky in the city center it was therefore possible to see how numerous anti-aircraft missiles rose to render flying objects harmless.
Dozens of drones and cruise missile intercepted
Several parts of Ukraine – including Kiev – were heavily shelled by the Russian military only during the night. According to its own statements, the Ukrainian Air Force fended off 29 combat drones and 37 cruise missiles nationwide. According to preliminary information, there were no dead or injured. Overall, “up to 40 guided missiles” and “around 35 drones” were fired by the Russian side, said the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian armed forces, Valery Saluschny, in online services.

With “constant attacks, the enemy is trying to keep the civilian population in a state of intense psychological tension,” she said. According to the civil and military administration, the roof of a building was damaged by falling debris.
According to the local authorities, a military airfield was shelled in the western Ukrainian region of Khmelnytskyi. Five planes and a runway were damaged, it said.
Fire in the port of Odessa
In Odessa on the Black Sea, a fire broke out in the port after drone fire. The fire was quickly extinguished, the Ukrainian military said. It was left open whether the damage to the port would also endanger grain exports.
On the night of Sunday, at least two people were killed and three others injured in what was apparently the most massive drone attack on Kiev since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine.
