Heat wave in the USA and Canada probably not possible without climate change – knowledge

The extraordinary heat wave in the USA and Canada would have been next to impossible without climate change, climatologists have calculated. Germany also has to adjust to extreme temperatures of up to 50 degrees Celsius.

While firefighters in British Columbia are still trying to contain the more than 100 forest fires, and police officers and disaster relief workers are securing and surveying the burned down town of Lytton, scientists are trying to explain what has just happened in the western United States and Canada. A heat wave broke the previous temperature record in Canada by almost five degrees Celsius. 49.6 degrees Celsius had been measured in Lytton before the 250-soul place went up in the flames.
