Heat warning in Bavaria: High temperatures from Aschaffenburg to Kempten – Bavaria

Lucky for those who have the day off and can go to the outdoor pool: Bavaria is heading for the hottest day of the year so far today – and it could be particularly warm in the north. “Franconia has a good chance that it will be 35, 36 degrees today,” said a meteorologist from the German Weather Service (DWD) in Munich. On Monday, 35.2 degrees Celsius were measured in Neuburg an der Donau – the highest value so far this year in Bavaria. “The announced hot days have really arrived.”

The DWD is expecting the weather to cool down a bit for the rest of the week. It could even get really wet in many places at the weekend and the risk of forest fires will decrease.

The expert explained that it is difficult to predict where the highest daily temperature in Bavaria will be measured on Tuesday. Maximum temperatures are often recorded in Lower Franconia. The forecast values are still a long way from the Bavarian all-time high in Kitzingen am Main of 40.3 degrees on July 5, 2015. Records are usually set in July, not in August, said the meteorologist.

The DWD warned on Tuesday of a strong heat load. From the afternoon onwards, storms with heavy rain in some places are possible, especially in the Alpine region, and there could also be hail in a small area. There could also be storms in some places in Franconia.

On Wednesday, temperatures will probably reach a maximum of 32 degrees in Bavaria. “Then, temperatures will ease over the weekend,” said the meteorologist. The weather will then probably be very changeable.

The Bavarian Red Cross advised people to drink one to two liters more water than usual. Bright sun should be avoided and head protection is important.

The risk of forest fires was high in many places across Bavaria on Tuesday, and in parts of Lower Franconia the risk was very high. Some district governments ordered observation flights.
