When Putin cut off gas to the Germans, demand for heat pumps skyrocketed. What happened to the boom? Three homeowners disclose their bills.
Do you still remember the panic in autumn 2022? At the end of August, Putin finally stopped gas deliveries to customers in the EU. A shock for politics, business and consumers. Gas and electricity prices had already risen dramatically in the previous months, reaching a peak in the fall – new customers had to pay 70 cents per kilowatt hour for electricity and around 40 cents for gas.
Prices recovered in early 2023 and have been relatively stable since then. Currently (as of the end of September), a kilowatt hour of natural gas costs around nine cents for new customers, and electricity costs just under 26 cents.
