Harald V. is no longer in the hospital. The Norwegian king had come to the clinic because of an infection.

Norway’s King Harald V. (86) was discharged from the hospital on Monday. This was announced by the royal family. He had to be treated for an infection at Rikshospitalet. The 86-year-old monarch was admitted to the Oslo clinic about a week ago. The palace did not disclose what type of infection he had. It is apparently not yet clear whether the king will take part in events for Norway’s national day on Wednesday (May 17).

On May 8, the palace announced that King Harald would be treated for “a few days” in the Oslo hospital for an infection. His son, heir to the throne Haakon of Norway (49), has represented him since then.

Concern for the king’s health

It is the third time in seven months that King Harald, who has been on the throne since 1991, has been in hospital. Already in August and December 2022 he had to be treated for an infection. And even before that, the monarch’s health was always a problem: in 2005 and 2020 he underwent surgery to replace a heart valve. Harald has also suffered from knee problems in recent years.
