Hanna W. case in Aschau: Suspect was initially sought as a witness – Bavaria

The young man who is said to have killed Hanna W. has probably already been questioned by the police. He is now in custody.

The suspect in the case of the killed student Hanna W. from Aschau was initially sought by the police as a witness. According to dpa information, it is a jogger whom the police had questioned as a witness at the end of October as part of the investigation. Initially, several media had reported about it. Police and prosecutor spokesmen declined to comment on the reports when asked on Thursday.

According to the police, the suspect is between 18 and 21 years old and is in custody. When asked, investigators gave no further details about the young man. The police had initially sought the jogger as a witness because he had been seen near a club in Aschau (Rosenheim district) on the night of the crime in early October. The 23-year-old student was also seen there shortly before her death. Her body was later recovered from the Prien River.

According to the police at the time, the investigators did not receive any further relevant information about the crime when questioning the jogger. Later, however, the suspicion against the man became so strong that he was arrested on November 18th. The Soko “Club” had previously searched intensively for the perpetrator and asked nationwide for the help of witnesses in the television program “Aktenzeichen XY…”.
