Handball World Cup: hobbled out of the hall! Diagnosis with Andreas Wolff there | Sports

First it was a win with a drop of bitterness…

Germany celebrates an opening win against Qatar on Friday evening, winning 31:27.

But shortly before the end of the game – the big shock!

DHB starts confidently in World Cup Knorr cooks from Qatar

Our super goalkeeper Andreas Wolff (31) injured his left calf during a parade in the final phase (58th minute) – after a short treatment with physiotherapist Reinhold Roth limped into the dressing room.

Big concerns about our super Andi – 15 parades against Asian champions Qatar!

But: A little later there is already a slight all-clear.

An ultrasound examination by team doctor Dr. Philipp Lübke in the cabin resulted in a slight strain, which is now being treated intensively by DHB physios Reinhold Roth and Dennis Finke. Nothing stands in the way of playing in the second preliminary round game on Sunday against Serbia (Sunday, 6 p.m.).

Breathe a sigh of relief with the German national team. After the final siren, the DHB stars in the aisles of the Spodek cabin were still worried about their keeper, fearing a failure.

DHB captain Johannes Golla (25): “It would be the most ungrateful thing that can happen if Andi were to fail now.”

Super pitcher Juri Knorr (22) is more optimistic: “I think he has nothing. He’s a tough guy! It will be fine.”

National coach Alfred Gislason (63) gave the all-clear a few minutes after the game. “Andi (Wolff, Red.) has signaled that his calf is closing. That’s why we substituted him immediately to avoid an injury. I think the medical department will make sure that Andi is fully fit by the day after tomorrow.”

A hunch that luckily has been confirmed.
