Now the date has been set: it will be in just over a year. Strikes in Hollywood had affected the production of the high-profile Formula 1 film, in which Lewis Hamilton was also working.

The film, partly shot during the race weekends, The Formula 1 film, starring Brad Pitt and Javier Bardem, will be released in international cinemas on June 25th next year. Two days later, the film, on which record world champion Lewis Hamilton is working as a consultant and co-producer, will also be shown in cinemas in North America. The premier class of motorsport announced this on Tuesday.

Filming was halted due to a strike in Hollywood that lasted almost four months. In the film, Pitt will play a pilot in the 1990s who has a serious accident. He will then compete in other series until a friend, who is also the team manager of an unsuccessful racing team and is played by Bardem, brings him back to Formula 1. In his role, Pitt will mentor a highly talented young pilot, played by Damson Idris, and lead him to success.

The film is directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Both were also responsible for “Top Gun: Maverick” in this cast. In order to make the footage as authentic as possible, filming took place in the paddock. Among other things, Pitt also took part in a so-called driver briefing. Pitt and Idris and their stuntmen were on the road in converted Formula 2 cars from the fictional Apex team.
