Hamburg’s environment senator Jens Kerstan has cancer

Jens Kerstan needs to be operated on as soon as possible, Hamburg’s environment senator was diagnosed with cancer. The disease was recognized very early, which gives hope for a successful operation.

Hamburg’s Senator for the Environment Jens Kerstan (Greens) is suffering from cancer and has to undergo surgery as soon as possible and then go to rehab. First, the “Abendblatt” had reported. The senator will therefore not be able to perform his duties for a few weeks. The cancer was detected at an early stage and there are good prerequisites for a successful operation followed by rehabilitation.

Jens Kerstan is represented by Dorothee Stapelfeldt

During his absence, Kerstan will be formally represented by Senator for Urban Development Dorothee Stapelfeldt (SPD). In the technical work and within the authority, State Councilor for the Environment Michael Pollmann (Greens) should take over Kerstan’s tasks. At least that is what the representation regulations within the Hamburg Senate say.
