During a major league game between Concordia Hamburg and USC Paloma, midfielder Berkant Aydin swallowed his tongue and threatened to choke. His teammates stepped in and saved his life.

The Hamburg amateur soccer player Berkant Aydin was probably saved by the courageous intervention of his teammates. The 22-year-old Concordia Hamburg midfielder went unconscious after a collision in a major league game at USC Paloma on Sunday. He swallowed his tongue and threatened to choke. His teammates had to force his mouth open to get his tongue out of his throat. Aydin was able to breathe again afterwards.

Dramatic incident in the league game: Aydin comes to the hospital

Stefan Kohfahl, sports advisor to Concordia, describes the situation as dramatic: “That was very critical. Maybe he was gone for a minute.” When the paramedics arrived, the player was given oxygen and taken to the hospital for an examination.

The game on the Jonny Rehbein sports field of USC Paloma was already in stoppage time when the score was 2: 2. It had to be canceled due to the incident and is to be repeated.
