Several explosions and heavy smoke have occurred at a construction site on a ten-story building in Hamburg’s HafenCity. The police suspect that gas bottles have blown up. Danger to the population should not have existed.
Several explosions occurred on a construction site in Hamburg’s HafenCity on Friday afternoon, resulting in heavy smoke. The police said the detonations were probably caused by gas cylinders. The building where the accident happened is still under construction.
App warns residents in Hamburg
Shortly thereafter, the mobile phone warning system sounded the alarm because of the heavy smoke development. However, there is said to have been no danger to the population. Nevertheless, the police asked the population to close windows and doors and to drive around the area. The smoke is said to be drifting southwest.
