Whether Brigitte Bardot or Goldie Hawn: The icons of the 70s wore their hair in Waft Fringe. Now the hairstyle is celebrating a comeback.

The 70s are not only celebrating a comeback in the form of ABBA’s new album. A hair trend from back then is also back: the Waft Fringe. 50 years ago icons like Brigitte Bardot (87), Farrah Fawcett (1947-2009) and Goldie Hawn (76) wore the “blowing pony”. The name says it all for this hairstyle: The front section of the hair is long and loosely cut and frames the face on the side – as if a breeze of wind was blowing through your hair.

Influencer Matilda Djerf (24) has now made the hairstyle her signature look and shows that the trend fits perfectly into 2021. Also singer Lizzo (33) liked the hairstyle. And what is the best way to style the Waft Fringe?

Lots of volume thanks to the round brush and hairdryer

When you think of the hairstyles of the 1970s, wild blow-dry hairstyles and XXL volumes come to mind. And the hair dryer is still used today when it comes to waft fringe styling. With the help of a round brush and a blow dryer, you can conjure up volume in your hair. For the Brigitte Bardot style pony, the round brush is placed under the hair, for the Farrah Fawcett pony over the hair and with the blow dryer from below. Then the whole thing is fixed with a lot of hairspray. Those who lack natural volume should work with texturizing spray.
