Habeck and the normal green felt: Conflicts of interest in the Ministry of Economics – Opinion

Secretary of State for Economic Affairs Graichen is involved in a process at the end of which his best man gets a top job. A problem? At first he can’t see it. The case has everything to harm Minister Habeck and the Greens.

The talented communicator Robert Habeck said about the suspicion that there had been a mistake in his ministry, “the mouse doesn’t bite off a thread”. This figure of speech may allude to the fable of a mouse biting through a thread and rescuing a lion from captivity. Apparently Habeck wanted to say: That’s a mistake, it can’t be shaken. If that’s supposed to sound cute, the choice of words is misguided: the process isn’t cute at all. He demands further clarification, raises questions about the judgment of the powerful Secretary of State Patrick Graichen and politically harms the Greens, who are already badly battered in the fight for the energy transition.
