Haar near Munich – indoor pools close due to lack of staff – district of Munich

Due to a lack of staff, the municipality of Haar is forced to temporarily close its indoor pools for public bathing operations. The pool in the Jagdfeld school center and the pool in the Konradschule are not available from May 23rd to June 19th inclusive. The reason given for the move is that seasonal workers are hard to find after a two-year break due to the coronavirus. Bathers are recommended to switch to the outdoor pool. In this, however, the summer operation also runs with slight time restrictions because lifeguards are missing there too. Three positions for lifeguards are vacant, says pool manager Sante Ciavarella, so the four-week closure of the indoor pools is “unavoidable”. Meanwhile, according to Mayor Andreas Bukowski (CSU), the town hall is taking “unusual paths” when looking for staff: three trained applicants have offered hourly support. In addition, nine high school graduates from the Ernst-Mach-Gymnasium reported and wanted to take the lifeguard exam. The DLRG promised the timely practical training and the acceptance of the exam. “If all this works, we are confident that we will be able to reopen the indoor pools from mid-June and also offer early swimming in the outdoor pool,” says Bukowski. The outdoor pool is currently open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
