Günther Jauch took the fate of his wedding church in Potsdam into his own hands and donated for the restoration.

The moderator Günther Jauch (65) has taken on an expensive project. As he explains in an interview with the “Bild” newspaper, his wedding church in Potsdam is currently being restored thanks to his commitment. “Damage occurs here that may not be able to be repaired later,” Jauch explains his project.

In 2006, Jauch said yes to his Thea (61) in the Friedenskirche in Sanssouci. “I think the place is great,” says Jauch. He and Thea would not have married here “if we hadn’t found it so beautiful”.

200,000 to 300,000 euros are still missing

But not only Jauch donated money: “No one has declared themselves responsible for it. One was completely dependent on private help,” said the moderator. Then he said to himself: “I’ll take a step.” In addition to his donation, the Hermann Reemtsma Foundation would also have given money. “There are also many small donations,” says Jauch.

Currently, around 200,000 to 300,000 euros are still missing for the total costs of around four million euros, confirms the head of Castles, Martin Vogtherr (57). If necessary, these would be paid for by his foundation.
