Grünwald: Filmstadt is looking for junior staff – district of Munich

Werner Herzog, who turned 80 last year, once stole a camera as a young, aspiring filmmaker from what was then the Institute for Film and Television in Munich. Now the director and author, who grew up in Chiemgau, is one of the most extraordinary artistic personalities of the past decades, but not all of his actions should necessarily be imitated.

For young visitors who drop by the “Film Academy Day” on Monday, March 20th in the Grünwalder Filmstadt, the trip to Geiselgasteig should certainly be worthwhile even without such a take-away effect. The day of action and information offered by the Film Commission of the FFF Bayern and the Bavaria-Filmstadt is primarily aimed at school classes: “You want to inspire young people for the diverse work behind the camera”, as Christiane Kügler-Martens, spokeswoman for the Bavaria-Filmstadt. “Potential career changers” are also very welcome.

The idea for the action day is not least due to the shortage of skilled workers, which is also affecting the film industry. Admission is free, but registration is required for school classes. The speakers will take care of the classes on March 20th in a time phase from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Afterwards from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., other interested parties can get information and inspiration without registering.

Influencer or YouTube star as a career aspiration, all well and good – but being involved in a major cinema production or a successful series has a different dimension and professional depth. All in all, the “Film Academy Day” is less about recruiting masses of new talented directors: During the tour of the film sets and shooting motifs in Bavaria-Filmstadt, the different job descriptions and job and training opportunities in film are presented, the speakers are professionals the industry. Among other things, the focus is on: assistant director, set and location manager, set design, make-up, camera assistance, light, visual effects, costume design, props, film accounting, production management and location scouting.

The backdrops include motifs from films such as “Fack ju Göhte”, “Jim Button”, “Asterix and Obelix against Caesar”, but also the fantastic world from “The Magic Flute – The Legacy of the Magic Flute”. The tour ends in an information area where, in the style of a trade fair, various production companies such as Constantin Film, Bavaria Fiction and Leonine as well as institutions such as the careers information center and the ZAV artist agency provide information on training and further education opportunities.

Registration for school classes is already possible, by e-mail to [email protected] or by telephone on 089/64 99 20 00.
