“Grey’s Anatomy” starts the 19th season on free TV with a special newcomer. Meredith Grey, on the other hand, says goodbye.

The wait for all “Grey’s Anatomy” fans is finally over. ProSieben is showing the 19th season of the successful hospital series on free TV starting today (9:15 p.m.). Five new young doctors start their training at Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital in the first episode – including a shepherd.

Niko Terho (27) plays the young resident Lucas Adams – as it is later revealed, a nephew of the late Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey, 57) and his sister Dr. Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone, 41).

Who is the mother?

Patrick Dempsey died in series eleven in season eleven, Caterina Scorsone still plays his youngest sister Amelia. First in the now discontinued spin-off “Private Practice”, since season eleven continuously on “Grey’s Anatomy” as head of neurosurgery at Gray Sloan Memorial. In addition to Amelia, Derek had three other sisters, which of the three is the mother of newcomer Lucas Adams – that will only be revealed in season 20.

Farewell to Meredith Grey

The 19th season is also the last of the main character Meredith Gray (Ellen Pompeo, 53). She moves to Boston with her children to start a new life. “I am eternally grateful for the love and support you have shown me, Meredith Grey, and the show over 19 seasons. None of this would have been possible without the best fans in the world,” Pompeo thanked her fans. However, the actress will remain as the narrator of the series and will make occasional guest appearances.

German television viewers can watch the 19th season of “Grey’s Anatomy” on ProSieben from April 24th. At the start once at 9:15 p.m. and then always at 8:15 p.m. as a free TV premiere. The new episodes are already available a week before on Joyn and the Disney+ streaming service. A 20th season is already planned.
