The Greek-Bavarian friendship is celebrated in the Greek Stüberl in Haidhausen. Things are down-to-earth here, the restaurant doesn’t leave the well-trodden path of traditional cuisine – which doesn’t have to be a disadvantage.
Greece and Bavaria – there was something there? Yes, it was 192 years ago when a still underage prince from Bavaria set off for the Aegean to be appointed king of the young state. The Wittelsbacher Otto ruled the Greeks for three decades, and in his entourage Bavarian politicians, officials, soldiers, craftsmen came to the country – and Johann Adam Fix from Edelbach in Lower Franconia, whose family was supposed to wash the Bavarian essence into Greek livers.
