It has now become completely clear to Dimitris Gogkas that his house is at the lowest point of the place. To the left and right of the foundation walls, mudslides have cut deep aisles in the ground on the way to the beach, the asphalt surface of the road has sunk a good five feet and broken. In the dining room on the ground floor, where he served breakfast for the tourists from the upper rooms, tables and chairs are piled up, with soggy clothes hanging over them. The entire first floor, including the kitchen, was knee-deep under water. “There has never been anything like this here before,” says Dimitris Gogkas.
