He doesn’t make the headlines: Ex-Prime Minister Johnson has recently had to face further alleged violations of the Corona rules. British intelligence services have new clues.
British ex-Prime Minister Boris Johnson has dismissed new allegations of breaking corona rules as “bizarre and unacceptable”.
A spokesman for the conservative politician said on Tuesday evening, according to the BBC, that it was “another politically motivated intrigue”. The ex-Prime Minister’s confidants and Conservative MPs claimed the allegations were made by left-leaning government officials. The Conservative Telegraph newspaper quoted a leading Tory as saying it was a “witch hunt” against the right wing of the party.
The central government agency, the Cabinet Office, had previously passed on information to the police about several violations in the London seat of government Downing Street and on the official country estate of Checkers. According to the Times newspaper, Johnson’s diaries had revealed visits from friends and relatives to Checkers, which was not allowed at the time due to the Corona rules.
With the new leads against Johnson, the pressure on Sunak continues to mount. The head of government is already being criticized because Johnson’s legal fees of more than 220,000 euros are being paid by the state. There were also recent allegations against Home Secretary Suella Braverman, who is said to have tried to avert a speeding ticket with the help of officials.
