GRDF promises “a gesture” in favor of embarrassed customers

A “gesture” by GRDF in favor of its injured customers. The management of the gas network operator in France wants to compensate users who have been affected by the social conflict within the company.

The nationwide movement was widely followed in Ile-de-France where strikers blocked sites at the call of the CGT union.

It resulted in inconvenient gas commissioning delays for customers moving in in the middle of winter, or occasional cuts in Neuilly-sur-Seine, or even Perpignan.

A gesture that concerns “less than 5,000 customers”

Laurence Poirier-Dietz, CEO of GRDF, specified that this concerned “less than 5,000 customers”, all located in Ile-de-France and who will have to contact the company as soon as they find themselves “in a complicated situation. This gesture, of an unspecified amount, will take the form of a bank payment.

GRDF is the main gas distributor in France with 11 million customers. Asked about the cost of the movement, which ended on Tuesday, the leader clarified that it was “in the process of being quantified”.

“We faced a number of abuses, damage to sites, vehicles that had punctured tires (…) Attacks on the company, its equipment or its sites, this is not acceptable, like going to cut off the gas to customers, we talked about Neuilly but there were also (other cuts) here and there, in Perpignan, etc., I condemn it, it’s not in the DNA of gas companies”, commented the general manager.
