After the 64th Grammy Awards ceremony was recently postponed indefinitely, the alternative date has now been set.

The 64th Grammy Awards ceremony takes place in April. The organizers confirmed this on January 18th. Harvey Mason Jr. (53), head of the Recording Academy, said in a statement that he is pleased to announce that the awards will be presented on April 3, 2022 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. This is the first time that the ceremony, which is supposed to offer a “world-class show”, will take place in Las Vegas. The music prize is usually awarded in Los Angeles.

“Too many risks” in January

“After careful consideration and analysis,” the decision was made to postpone the event indefinitely, according to a joint statement by the Recording Academy and the CBS television network at the beginning of January. The event was originally supposed to take place on January 31, but the omicron variant of the corona virus means there are “simply too many risks”. The 2021 award had to be postponed due to the pandemic. Instead of the beginning of January, the awards were presented in March.

Bands and artists nominated for one or more awards this year include Billie Eilish (20), ABBA, Lil Nas X (22), BTS, Justin Bieber (27), Doja Cat (26), Cardi B (29) , Taylor Swift (32) and Ed Sheeran (30). The gala will once again present Trevor Noah (37).
