Graham Potter takes over from Thomas Tuchel to bring magic back to the Blues

His name had filtered on Wednesday, after the ousting of Thomas Tuchel. Graham Potter was appointed Chelsea manager on Thursday. The 47-year-old English coach has signed up for five years from Brighton, the London club said.

A former professional defender, especially in the Championship (D2) or in the lower divisions, Potter displays an atypical profile in the Premier League. A graduate in Social Sciences and holder of a master’s degree in “leadership and emotional intelligence”, he studied in Sweden, at Östertunds, from 2011 to 2018, before joining Swansea (2018-2019) then Brighton (2019-2022) .

Apostle of an offensive game, the Briton succeeds the German Thomas Tuchel, ex-coach of PSG, sacked Wednesday the day after a defeat against Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia (1-0), during the first day of the League champions. In the league, the Blues are in sixth place with three wins, a draw and two defeats before a trip to Fulham on Saturday.
