Gräfelfing – creative sports offers – district of Munich

When it comes to sports, he is a “man of conviction,” says Andreas Krumpholz. For him, sport has a social task, it is part of a good attitude towards life and makes an important contribution to preventive health care. That was his motivation for initiating the “Sport Round Table” in the municipality of Gräfelfing. The aim is to bring together all the sports offers in the municipality, to network them and to create new offers, beyond club membership. The initiative is now coming up with the first concrete projects.

The “midnight sport” is the first campaign to start in the new year. The triple gym on the school campus in Lochham will be open from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. The sports offer is intended for young people aged 16 and over and young adults. The athletics department of the Turn- und Sportverein (TSV), which is headed by Andreas Krumpholz, and the district youth council of Munich-Land organize the evening together. Most of the participants, who do not have to belong to a club, can decide which sport they want to do – “the focus is on ball sports,” says Krumpholz.

Due to the rapidly increasing number of corona infections, the first sports unit, which was scheduled for the end of January, had to be postponed immediately. A new attempt will take place at the end of February or in March. Four night sports evenings are planned in the first quarter of the calendar year.

At the round table, which was founded in May last year, there are currently 15 people interested in sports. This includes local councillors, officials of the TSV, but also representatives of commercial sports offers in the community, schools, the adult education center and the district youth council are there and actors who take the perspective of new residents, parents, seniors and people with disabilities.

There will be an action day in the summer

More “fitness in everyday life” is another project that emerged from the round and is to be implemented this year. Fitness equipment is to be set up on three playgrounds in the municipal area – in the Heitmeiersiedlung, on Neunerberg and in Kerschensteinerstraße – so that mothers, fathers or grandparents who look after children there can increase their own fitness. “We’re thinking of exercise bikes or steppers here,” says project manager Benno Stübner. A fitness course on the Anger near the Kneipp facility on the Würm is also conceivable. The financial means for this are already planned in the current budget, says Krumpholz.

The possibilities for sporting activities in the community are then to be fanned out during a “Sports Day” in the summer. On June 26, citizens can test sports offers in the community free of charge, from yoga taster courses to martial arts units. A shuttle service is to bring those interested from the central “Sportbahnhof” in front of the community center to the sports facilities.

A more long-term project is the “digital bulletin board,” says Krumpholz. All sports facilities in the community should be found here. “This could become a forum for arranging a bike ride or initiating a running club,” says Krumpholz. But that is still in the future.
