Gottschalk and Krüger: “The critics cried, the people laughed” – Panorama

Of

Roman Deininger, Velden am Woerthersee

Blessed is the day that has such a generous selection of key moments in store. But let’s take the one in which Thomas Gottschalk is strapped to a round, red wooden panel that is riddled with deep notches. The nicks are where blades have been before. Gottschalk knows all this from half a century of show business. He also helped himself to a knife thrower Bet that..? exposed, but the first time here at the Wörthersee during the shooting of “Zwei Nase tanken Super”. He was 33 years old at the time, and he wasn’t quite at ease with it. Gottschalk is now 72. Today, he says, he can look the knifeman in the eye more calmly: “Back then I still had a future.”
