In the current episode of “Germany’s next top model” the excitement is great again. First Selma, Nicole and Ida are flown like real top models to a casting by Peek & Cloppenburg in Düsseldorf. The job goes – again – to Selma and her bright smile.

“A Little Too Theatrical”

After their luxury villa, the remaining girls move into a motel – which not all participants feel comfortable with: “You know motels from horror films,” says Vivien. “The idea of ​​having to spend the night there…”. Selma is also briefly shocked when she comes back from her job: “What’s that?!”

This is the preparation for the shoot with GNTM legend Kristian Schuller, which takes place in the Nevada desert. The models are supposed to pose in front of huge balloons in brightly colored capes and bathing caps. Schuller has precise ideas and even gives the girls the poses: “Today’s shoot is about colors, graphics, poetry. It’s not a classic fashion shoot, it’s about depicting a fantasy, an attitude to life.” The focus is on the personality of the candidates.

And many of the models can inspire the discerning photographer right away: Selma creates “epic shots”, as Heidi praises. Somajia, Katherine, Nicole and Coco have fun and are able to implement the guidelines well. But the pressure increases because the sun says goodbye. Olivia has trouble following directions. “Forget it,” Schuller eventually breaks off in frustration. Ida needs a few more attempts, but then gets it right. And Mirella’s poses are “a little too theatrical” for Heidi.

GNTM: A model was missing on the catwalk

In the second challenge, they were to stage the black looks of Berlin designer Esther Perbandt in a Western town. “Less is more for me,” she says. “Don’t try to pose with a big pose, just show your presence.”

Somajia from Bielefeld did not take part in the second challenge. She tested positive for the coronavirus and had to isolate herself from the others. In quarantine, she kept herself entertained with a fashion show in her room. Because a convincing photo was taken of her in the first challenge, she can also go to Las Vegas like this.

Guest judge on the evening is the supermodel Karolína Kurkova – together with Heidi and Perbandt. A critical trio, as it turns out. First up is Selma. She overlooks the marker and wanders aimlessly around the judges. Her poses, her head position and the “bounce” in her walk are also criticized.

Critical words from the jury

With Olivia, the farewell is similarly chaotic. She can’t find her way back and is obviously wandering about the set insecurely. Perbandt: “But you can also do better, the exit.” Kurková, disappointed: “Like a completely different person! […] As long as you’re running, you’re still on stage.”

Coco gets criticism before she even steps on the catwalk: “Coco was difficult for me backstage. […] I didn’t feel this shine, radiance, this desire to present it,” doubts Perbandt. But she is positively surprised and congratulates her on a “strong walk”. The jurors criticize Katherine for her “desired male pose”. Mirella has actually the greatest motivation, but also makes the biggest mistake: she holds the dress on both sides in order to be able to walk – which neither flatters her nor the dress. For her it is also the last episode of GNTM. Mirella’s last words: “I have Expected anything but that, not today.”

Hostess Heidi Klum wished the candidate all the best and said visibly sadly: “It’s always a shame. It’s getting more and more difficult towards the end.”
