Do you remember Lou-Anne Gleißenebner-Teskey? The Austrian was named “Germany’s Next Top Model” last year. What was special was that the 18-year-old was in the final together with her 50-year-old mother, who took third place. Heidi Klum had three older candidates in her model show in 2022. The 17th season had the motto diversity. Size, weight, age – there were no limits to many criteria.
But not everyone was enthusiastic about the concept. Some well-known fashion designers therefore canceled their participation in the show. “We had problems getting designers for our show. Many jumped off when we gave the girls’ measurements. Everyone supposedly wants diversity, but not really,” Klum said at the time.
GNTM 2023: New season starts on February 16 at ProSieben
There are now no senior models in the new season. The youngest candidates are 18 years old, the oldest in their mid-20s. A total of 29 young women made it onto the shortlist. It starts on February 16th. Then the first GNTM episode will be broadcast on ProSieben. At the start – after all, this is new – the participants will go directly to Los Angeles. Two guest judges await them there, model Winnie Harlow and designer Peter Dundas. The candidates have to run in front of them at a fashion show.
It is not yet clear whether Heidi Klum’s daughter Leni will also be seen again in an episode. The 18-year-old moved to New York from Los Angeles to study interior design.
