What happened?
After the start in Athens, the candidates travel on to the Greek island of Mykonos. There the model apartments are moved into with loud shouting. The 66-year-old Lieselotte has one main concern: “I’ll take a look at the toilet first. The standard size is actually much too deep. Especially for older people, they have a hard time getting up. There are higher toilets, they are more age-appropriate and more back-friendly.” Physical ailments are not taken into account either in the sanitary equipment or in the catwalk training with Heidi Klum. She wants to help her candidates to move their hips more on bumpy terrain. If you make a mistake, you’ll get hula hoop training. Relaxation is also expected at the first photo shoot, where two candidates compete against each other. The better one gets a point. The models can secure a second point and thus the ticket to the next round at the final walk.

The decision walk has it all: the candidates should float down a stony staircase as elegantly as possible. High heels, dresses with meter-long trains and a wind machine are a challenge for most candidates. Very few master the task without stumbling or even falling. Heidi Klum rolls her eyes several times and co-juror Yu Tsai judges: “They’ll give us another heart attack.”
The guest judge
US photographer Yu Tsai not only has a hand in the decision about elimination and progress, but also photographs the candidates at their first photo shoot. He does not keep his opinion behind the mountain. “Sorry Heidi, I don’t see any models. I see two pretty girls having a good time and enjoying their vacation,” he criticizes about Inka and Julia. Kristina gets to hear: “It looks like those inflatable advertising dolls that stand in front of car dealerships and twirl wildly. I need a model.” And he attests to Sophie’s exaggerated self-confidence. “You are blinded by your ambition as you are so desperate to win this competition. It was nerve wracking to watch.” The photographer’s summary: “You still have a lot of work to do this season, Heidi.”

Kim, who has hardly made an appearance so far, is sent home by Heidi Klum. The journey is also over for Wiebke, who was the tallest candidate at 1.95 meters.
