Gluck’s “Orfeo ed Euridice” with Cecilia Bartoli – Culture

Silence reigns in the foyer. Johannes Leiacker built it on the stage in the Haus für Mozart, white above, dark brown below, wood paneling. It is reminiscent of the Karl-Böhm-Saal next door, but here it is an art location, nonetheless because it is a concert hall foyer, a natural habitat for the mythical singer Orpheus, with whom the history of the opera begins and also ends this evening. But first shy people enter the room, some go down towards the orchestra pit – they belong to the choir – the others spread out upstairs, form pairs or stay alone, dressed in black and white. Then the “Musiciens du Prince – Monaco” began, the scenery came to life and Gluck’s opera “Orfeo ed Euridice” began.
