The annual Global Citizen Festival takes place on September 24th in New York City and Ghana. Among other things, Metallica will be there.

The Global Citizen Festival has confirmed his lineup. The popular series of events, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, announced artists including Metallica, Charlie Puth (30), Mariah Carey (53), Måneskin and the Jonas Brothers. Two shows will take place simultaneously in New York’s Central Park and in Accra, Ghana on September 24th. In the USA, Priyanka Chopra Jonas (40) will lead the festival as a presenter.

SZA and Usher sing in Ghana

The Ghana show will be held at Black Star Square in Accra. Artists such as SZA (32), Usher (43), Stormzy (29) and HER (25) will perform there. On the same day Ghana celebrates 60 years of independence. It will also be the 20th anniversary of the African Union.

As always, the Global Citizen Festival is used to draw attention to the grievances in the world. Usually the performers and speakers address the politicians of the United Nations. This year’s festival theme is ‘Take Action Now. For Girls. For the Planet. To End Poverty’.

The nine-hour show will be streamed internationally on both Twitter and YouTube.
