Apple boss Tim Cook, Vogue boss Anna Wintour and Twitter boss Jack Dorsey are up before sunrise. It is said that getting up early makes them more effective. Does this also apply to normal employees? A try will tell.

Tim Cook gets up super early in the morning to work and go to the gym. The Apple boss can compensate for the time difference to the US East Coast by getting up early. Twitter boss Jack Dorsey is also a fan of the early bird. He gets up at 5:30 a.m. at the latest. Then he goes jogging. And Virgin founder Richard Branson is also up early in the morning.

In fact, many successful managers and company leaders get up early. Of course, they usually start working in the early hours of the morning. Sport and family are also on the agenda.

When successful people use the first hours of the day, the question quickly arises: Is turning off the bedside lamp late and nagging before getting up every morning a career killer? Does a new daily routine make us better people?

Rachel Hosie from the British “Independent” took the test and found that getting up early had a significant impact on her everyday life.

1. Finally time for sport

If you get out of bed at five in the morning, you have time – for sports, for example. Whether in the gym or at home: early morning exercise gets the circulation going. And the excuse that you just can’t find time to exercise doesn’t apply either.

2. Do chores around the house

Well, vacuuming might not be a good idea at half past five in the morning. Either you disturb the family, the roommates or the neighbors. But hanging up or taking down the laundry, changing bed linen, emptying the dishwasher, cleaning shoes or finally filing the bills shouldn’t be a problem. Good news: You no longer have to postpone this work to the weekend.

3. Very hungry

The early start to the day structures the process differently. In the morning you can have a long breakfast, you have time. But if you eat earlier, you’ll be hungry again sooner. The time until lunch seems infinitely long. So the early start of the day makes you hungry, according to Hosie.

4. Dating in the evening becomes difficult

Going to the movies with your girlfriend, eating with your crush, cocktails with the clique – it’s going to be really difficult. Because while the others can snooze until eight in the morning, you want to get up early yourself. So you should be in bed by ten o’clock at the latest – that will be tight if the movie is too long. Hosie was out at dinner, had a few drinks and wasn’t home until late. Getting up in the morning was torture for her.

5. You look better

You can also invest the time in the morning in your outfit and in a chic make-up. Hosie says co-workers will be amazed at how amazing you can look on a dull Tuesday morning.

6. Pride and Effectiveness

Getting out of bed early in the morning and having accomplished a lot before you even step into the office feels great. And that feeling carries over to work—you’re a lot more productive, Hosie says. That at least explains why the successful managers are up early.
