Around 100,000 aircraft take off around the world every day, crossing the cloud cover to take passengers from A to B. Flying is still one of the most popular types of travel. Although airlines have significantly improved comfort and sustainability in recent years, there are still big differences in the quality of the planes.
But with which airline will my flight not be torture, which airline will reliably take me on vacation? The consumer protection experts from “Airhelp” also investigated these questions. For a current ranking, the passenger rights portal compared the 83 largest and most popular airlines. The analysis took place from January 1 to September 30, 2023, taking into account three criteria: punctuality, customer satisfaction and handling of complaints.
The ten most popular airlines in the world
Specifically, the experts used public statistics to look at how punctually the planes take off and land, conducted a customer satisfaction survey and determined how efficiently and quickly complaints and cancellations are processed. Each point mentioned makes up a third of the total score on which the ranking is based.
In the picture gallery we show you the most popular airlines this year. First place is defended by a well-known airline, while a German low-cost airline takes second place. Widerøe, a small airline, even makes it into the ranking, while Austrian Airlines probably also scores points with chocolate.
