German tax law is blocking the energy transition – economy

Of

Claus Hulverscheidt, Berlin

In principle, politics, business and environmental organizations are in complete agreement: if the drastic increase in gas and electricity prices as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine has taught us anything, it is that Germany must phase out the use of fossil fuels much faster than planned anyway. In addition to citizens and large corporations, the almost 2.5 million small and medium-sized companies in the state are in demand, without which the energy transition cannot succeed. However, the state is also called upon to provide the necessary incentives, particularly in the area of tax law.
