German economy: Things are finally looking up – Economy

These are difficult years in Germany. First came the corona pandemic and inflation shock. Then the German economy shrank in 2023, while almost all other major economies grew. This fed the feeling among some citizens that they were living in a permanent crisis. But now the turning point is at hand: economic researchers are increasing their forecasts. The Munich-based Ifo Institute is now expecting 0.4 percent more economic output this year – and a solid 1.5 percent increase for the coming year. Economic growth also means more income for people.
